My right: freedom of speech
1. My right is freedom of speech.
2. My right exists because this right allows individuals to express themselves without interference or constraint by the government. (http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/First_amendment).
3. To exercise freedom of speech, ( in my opinion), is to say what you want to say. The following is a specific example of exercising freedom of speech: Robert is talking to Lucas at work and Robert says that he thinks that raising taxes was a stupid move for the government to make. Robert said his opinion about the government raising taxes and he can do that because of freedom of speech. He is exercising his right to freedom of speech by saying his opinion about what the government did.
4. The limitations that exist in the right to freedom of speech is in certain places like school and work. At school a student does not have the freedom of speech to tell another student that they are going to kill them, a student does not have the freedom of speech to say a curse word to a teacher or principal, nor does a teacher have the freedom of speech to make fun of a student, also a student doesn't have the right to freedom of speech to say something sexual to another female because of sexual harassment laws in the learning environment, and a lot of other verbal things. At work a male employee can't say anything sexual to a female employee because of sexual harassment laws in the work place.
5. The limitations I talked about in question 4 exist because sexual harassment refers to conduct of a sexual nature that is unwanted or unwelcome by the recipient. The recipient perceives the sexual comment or comments as sexual harassment, and this applies to any work or learning environment. Everyone at any school knows that both teachers/principals and students don't have the right to freedom of speech with no limits. Everyone knows there are limits at any school. (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FSL/is_5_76/ai_94538204/).
6. I would want nothing in return because I would not accept my right to freedom of speech being taken away because my opinion matters to me and if I feel that I need to say something then I will and there is nothing the government could do about that. They could take the right away but they can't do anything to keep my mind from deciding to say my opinion about things. I would not give up nothing because I wouldn't accept my right to freedom of speech being taken away.
